Skincare: The Massage Your Skin Deserves

It’s not about the products on your skin, but what you do with them!

When we think of skincare, we often focus on the products we apply. However, the secret to radiant skin lies not just in the products, but in the way we use them. Skincare involves massaging too! Don’t neglect that!

In this blog, we will be deep diving into the realm of skincare and massaging and understanding lymphatic and collagen regeneration.

The Science Behind the Benefits

The benefits of facial massage are deeply rooted in science. What are the results? A smoother, more youthful complexion. Let me decode that for you!

  • Lymphatic massage promotes lymph flow, which helps in removing toxins from your body, reducing inflammation and puffiness.

  • Cupping increases blood circulation, which brings more oxygen and nutrients to the skin, promoting a healthy glow.

  • Gua Sha, a traditional Chinese practice, involves scraping the skin with a smooth tool to improve circulation and reduce tension. The gentle pressure applied, during these massages, helps to break down fascia. This is connective tissue that can sometimes cause wrinkles and tension.

What if I can’t visit a professional for these benefits?

No problem! Here are some implementable tips to start your own routine at home. I prefer the gua sha or a daily facial massage - an amazing habit to start now!

For Guasha, I recommend a stainless steel tool as it is less likely to cause breakouts and harbours fewer bacteria than other materials. Start with clean, moisturised skin then gently scrape the tool across your face in upward and outward motions, to drain lymphatic fluid.

No Guasha? No problem. Your hands are the best tool, too. Try incorporating a few minutes of facial massage in your skincare routine. Use your fingertips to gently massage your face in circular motions, focusing on areas where you hold tension, such as your jawline and temples. I recommend to follow a youtube guide and slowly memorise it!

What’s amazing is that you’ll see immediate results in both of these techniques!

The Mindset Needed

Taking care of yourself is productive and important. It’s easy to forget that little things you do every day can significantly impact how you feel and look. Incorporating these small acts of self-care into your routine can really boost your mood, enhance your confidence, and improve your overall well-being. With, or without a professional. Do it for you!
